Real Knitter
I like tattoos, I really do. They have a terrible beauty. Each one represents a story to its owner. You know you are a really committed knitter when you decide to have yourself tattooed with yarn, needles or some other kind of knitting iconography. FlintKnits is a serious knitter. She shows her love of the craft with her back tattoo (left) which looks a lot like a Malabrigo mitten knit with Brittany needles. FlintKnit’s flickr page features a gallery of knitting tattoos that shows she’s not alone. (By the way her Elinor’s Mittens are really nice.) Check out the Bad Knit Girls too for more tattoos. NWKnitter, Knitrovert, TattooBlog and Say What? all write about their own knitting tattoos. Newsweek has a piece by Karen Breslau on the phenomenon of knitting and tattoos as cultural microtrends. Want something spicier? What about Knitting + Porn? Oh yes, it’s here.

My mom passed away almost 2 years ago and I thought of her “unfinished life” when I saw this. I absolutely love it!
