CNN Notices Yarnbombing
I guess it’s only a matter of time before yarnbombing really gets mainstream media traction as the “girl graffiti.” This weekend, writer Nicole Saidi did a story for CNN about Denise Litchfield and her gang of yarnbombing urban artists in Sydney, Australia. The article focuses on a project called “The Knitted Convenience” in which an historic toilet facility got yarnbombed. I like this image, above, of Litchfield and her bright yarn covered sculpture for the Viva La Gong Festival. CNN also talked with Magda Sayeg in this piece as well, more about her here. Like yarnbombing? Read older posts on the topic here and here. Also, take a look at the book, Yarnbombing.
Thanks to Greg Mann for finding the CNN story and letting me know about it. Good stuff.
